Ever since coming to America the first question I am always asked is where I am from? Which is really weird given America is a land of immigrants. Anyways, it always makes me super uncomfortable so I decided to tap into why I can never give a simple answer to this question.

The work centers around how for many decades artists and queer people alike have used their bodies to push, resist, intervene, mediate, respond, and deconstruct political concerns that take on a variety of issues from the private to the public. The strong women in my life such as my mother and grandmother have acted as emotional bridges, networks in place to teach me how our bodies are places of agency and will; of dignity and care. They have taught me how to manifest both a space of resistance and resilience in my body  and carve my own path. The work focuses on their life stories and bring forth marginalized histories of hope. Their success despite the odds ranging from bloody partitions, to schizophrenia, to problems modern women still face in the workforce and society.
